QuestionAnswer
RAM (Random Access Memory) Temporary memory that is designed to hold new data and is available only while the computer is turned on.
ROM (Read-Only Memory) Permanent internal memory inside the system, is inaccessible by the user, and is used to store the instructions that are installed or programed at the manufacturer.
Bit A binary character that is the smallest unit of binary information.
Byte Eight bits that represent one alphabetic or one numeric character of information.
Interactive Whiteboards Like a traditional blackboard, but offers the ability to print or save information written on the board.
Dots Per Inch (DPI) Resolution is measured with this.
Internal Storage Storage inside the computer by way of a computer hard disk drive or hard drive.
Ethernet Port Used for high-speed connection to the internet or another network.
Central Processing Unit (CPU) Where the processing of information takes place, referred to as the processor.
Input Devices Allows the input of data into the computer.
Cache Provides a temporary storage area that provides a quick access information.
Firewire Ports Provides a very fast connection to transfer large amounts of data quickly.
Assistive Technology (AT) Devices for special needs students.
Switches An alternative to the keyboard. Can be used by pulling, pressing, blinking, sipping, etc.
Monitor Mounts Allows the placement of the monitor in the most easily seen position.
