ROM permanent internal memory, inaccessible by the user, and used to store the instructions that are installed by the manufacturer.
Mouse Pad Allows good movement of the mouse.
Input Devices All the input of data into the computer. Example: keyboards, mice, scanners, ect.
Graphic Tablet PAn electronic tablet that can be drawn on with a stylus that is connected to the computer through a port connection.
Tablet Computers A complete computer system in a slate format.
Resolution Defines the clarity of the image that is seen on the computer screen.
Pixel A single colored square in the screen.
CRT Cathode Ray Tube. A less expensive type of monitor.
LCD Liquid Crystal Display. A more expensive type of monitor.
Hard Disck Drive Holds large amounts of information and is significant in in the purchasing decision of a new computer system.
USB drives Provide great flexibility in in mobile storage devices. Also called pen, flash, or jump drives.
Parallel Ports Used to connect a computer to a printer.
USB Ports Provide an easy universal way to connect an array of devices and provide faster transfer of information to devices such as printers, scanners, and digital cameras.
Ethernet Port Used for high-speed connection to the internet or other networks, such as intranet, or internal networks.
Application Software Allows computers to carry out specific functions, such as word processing, creation of databases, ect.
