RAM Random Access Memory- temporary memory inside the computer designed to hold new data and is available only while the computer is turned on.
CPU Center Processing Unit- The processing of information takes place here.
Microphone Audio can put put into the computer using the microphone.
Tablet Computers a complete computer system in the form of a slate design.
Computer monitor The computer screen or display.
Printer Outputs the information after it has been processed in the computer making it a hard copy on paper.
Resolution Defines the clarity of an image that is seen on the computer screen.
Pixel a single colored square on the computer screen. When pixels are joined together on the computer screen images can be seen.
Portable Media Player Portable devices that store and play audio such as music, podcasts and videos.
Storage devices Store data for later use. These include internal storage and external.
USB drives Mobile storage devices, also called a flash drive or jump drive.
Ethernet Port Used for high-speed connection or another network, such at intranet or an internal net-work.
Application Software Allows the computer to carry out specific functions, such as word processing, creation of databases and spreadsheets and so on.
Touch screens Allow direct selection or operation by touching the appropriate area on the screen.
Electronic pointing devices Allow the user to control the cursor using ultra-sound, an infrared beam, eye movements, nerve signals, or even brain waves.
