George Milton A migrant worker who travels from farm to farm with his mentally impaired friend during the Depression.
Lennie Small A gigantic, mentally disabled man. He is obsessed with simple sensory pleasures, particularly finding great joy in touching soft things.
Candy An old crippled man who has lost his hand. He works as a swamper at the ranch and has a stinky, aging dog.
Curley The son of the ranch owner. A short man who is a formidable boxer. He is aggressive, boastful and cocky.
Curley's Wife Considered to be a tramp by them men on the ranch. Feels very lonely, but hopes for a better life.
Crooks Only black man on the ranch. He is a proud, but bitter man. He works as a stable buck.
Carlson Complains about the stinky dog, and eventually puts the dog out of his misery. It is his gun that is used to kill Lennie.
Slim He is the jerkline skinner. He is a hard worker and deeply respected by the other ranchers. He is suspected of having an affair with the only woman on the ranch.
Aunt Clara Raised Lennie, loved him but belittled him often.
