What is copyright? the legal right of ownership to the work produced in books, music, plays, graphics/pictures & computer software
What does copyright protect? tangible expression of ideas
What is the purpose of copyright? to protect the creator of a creative work
What is infringement? the act of violating a copyright by copying or otherwise distributing a copyrighted work without permission or authorization
What does fair use of copyrighted work allow? to be re-purposed and used in another work
When is it considered fair use? when it is used for: •education •commentary or criticism •news reporting •parody or making fun of work
What can happen if you infringe? you can be sued
What is Piracy? the act of stealing valuable property by copying software, music, graphics/pictures, movies, and books(all available on the internet)
What is hacking? Breaking into computers to read private emails and other files(Hackers delete all there files)
What is identity theft? Occurs when someone appropriates another's personal information with out their knowledge to commit theft or fraud
What is releasing a virus or worm? Intentionally releasing a worm or virus to harm others or attack networks

What is freeware? software on the web that is freely available (but retains a copyright)

What is shareware? copyrighted software that may be tried without expense but requires payment if you decide to use it
