What is copyright laws? Copyright is the legal right of ownership.
What does copyright do? Protects tangible expression of ideas.
What is the purpose if copyright? To protect the creators work.
What is Infringement? Act of violating a copyright
What can happen if you infringe on someone's copyright? You can be sued
What does fair use allow? To be re purposed and used in another work.
What would be an example of a derivative work based on a book? A screenplay for a movie based on the book.
What is software? Programs that tell a computer what to do.
What are some examples of software? -Microsoft Office -Microtype -MicroPace pro
What is a copyrighted software? Software that is legally protected against copying or being used without paying for it.
Public Domain Software? Non-copyrighted that anyone may .
Shareware? Copyrighted software that may be tried without expense but requires payment.
Freeware? Software on web that is freely available (but retains a copyright).
Examples of freeware? -Mozilla firefox -Adobe Flash player -Quick time Player
What is piracy? Stealing valuable property by copying software.
What is hacking? Breaking into computers to read private e-mails and other files.
What is identity theft? Someone appropriates another's personal info. without their knowledge.
Releasing worms? Intentionally releasing a virus or worm to harm others or attack networks.
