Predation Act of one organism killing for food
Secondasry compounds Virtually all plants contain defensive chemicals
Symbiosis Two or more species living together I'm a close long term association
Commensalism Third form of symbiosis, symbiotic relationship in which one species benefits and the other is neither harmed nor helped
Mutialism Symbiotic relationship in which both participating species benefit
Competition When two species use the same resource they they participate in a biological interaction
Niche Function role of a particular species in a ecosystem; the "job" it performs within the ecosystem
Fundamental niche Entire range Of resource opportunities an organism is potentially able to occupy within an ecosystem
Realized niche Part of its fundamental inch that a species occupies
Biodiversity The variety of living organisms present in a community
Climate Prevailing weather conditions in an given area
Biome Major biological community that occurs over a large area of land
Littoral zone Shallow zone near the shore
Limmnetic zone Area that is father away from shore but close to surface
Profound zone Deep water zone that is below the limits of effective light penetration
Plankton Composed of bacteria ,algae , fish larva, and many small in vertebrate animals
Benthetic zone Lowest level of water ecosystem
