QuestionAnswer
A type of storage device that contains one or more inflexible, circular platters that use magnetic particles to store data, instructions, and information. HARD DISK
The electric, electronic, and mechanical components contained in a computer. HARDWARE
Wireless network that provides Wi-Fi Internet connections to mobile computers and other devices. HOT SPOTS
Text that is linked to other pages or files. HYPERTEXT
A small image displayed on a computer screen that represents a program, a document, or some other object. ICON
Any hardware component that allows users to enter data and instructions into a computer. INPUT DEVICES
The world's largest network; a worldwide collection of networks that links together millions of businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals. INTERNET
A business that provides access to the internet, usually on a subscription basis. ISP
One thousand bytes or characters of information. KILOBYTE
One million bytes or characters of information. MEGABYTE
Temporary storage place for data, instructions, and information consisting of one or more chips in the motherboard in the computer. Sometimes called the primary storage. MEMORY
Type of memory card capable of storing between 1 and 16 GB of data. MEMORY STICK
A list of commands or options displayed on your screen that allows you to perform tasks. MENU
A telecommunications peripheral device that allows computers to communicate with one another via conventional telephone lines. MODEM
The main circuit board of the system unit, which as some electronic components attached to it and others built into it. MOTHERBOARD
