Bit Smallest unit of binary information
RAM Temporary memory that is designed to hold new data and is available only while the computer is turned on
Input devices Allows input of data into the computer. Examples: keyboard, mice, scanners, microphones, "clickers", etc.
Resolution Defines the clarity of the image that is seen on the computer screen
External Hard Drives Connected through a computer, allows for large quantities of data to be moved from one physical location to another
USB drives Mobile storage devices
USB Port Universal way to connect an array of devices. Example: Computer to printer
Application software Allows the computer to carry out specific functions such as word processing, creation of a database or spreadsheets
Monitor Mounts Allow the placement of the monitor in the most easily seen position
Kilobytes, Megabytes, Gigabytes How computer memory is measured
CPU (central processing unit) processing of the information
Computer System refers to the computer and other support devices
Processor Speed conveys how fast data can be moved in and out of memory
Mouse Pad allows good movement of the mouse
Audio Sounds projecting from the computers speakers
