Parts of a window

TERMDEFINITON
CLOSE BUTTON small button with an X in it; appears @ the right side of title bar; closes a window
DESKTOP the main working surface area
SHORTCUT alternative
TITLE BAR horizontal bar @ top of a window; lists the name of the program/window
ICON picture symbol
MAXIMIZE BUTTON enlarges a window to take up almost the entire space
MENU BAR access all the commands available in the software
MINIMIZE BUTTON reduces a window to a button on the task-bar
TASK-BAR bar displayed (usually at the bottom); used to launch and open programs
START BUTTON opens the start menu; contains shortcuts to programs installed
STATUS BAR horizontal bar; shows info about documents or programs running; indicates items such as CAPS LOCK, SCROLL LOCK, etc.
HORIZONTAL SCROLL-BAR contains a box that is clicked and dragged left or right
FORMATTING TOOLBAR visual editor which allows you to edit your font, etc.
STANDARD TOOLBAR bar of icons below menu-bar
VERTICAL TOOLBAR contains a box that is clicked and dragged up and down
WINDOW BORDER outer edge of window
