Graves Spreadsheet Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
An application or program, useful for calculating and relating data. Spreadsheet
Used to reference the cells in a spreadsheet. Address
Usually made up of column letters along the top and row numbers down the side. Address
Information coded into a suitable form for computer input, processing, and output. Data
Anything that is a number. Numeric
Text in a cell. Cannot be calculated, just sorted. Label
A calculation entered by the user for the data in the spreadsheet. e.g. =(A6+A7)-A5 Formula
Make it easier to put sophisticated calculations into the worksheet and make the long, laborious calculations quick and accurate. e.g. =SUM (C6:C12) Function
A numerical result of a formula or function. Value
A place where you can enter data in a spreadsheet. Cell
The intersection of a row and column. Cell
Two cell references usually separated by a colon. (A23:C42) Cell Range
Horizontal cells on a spreadsheet (in one line). Row
Vertical cells on a spreadsheet (in one line). Column
To define the visual appearance of the value of a cell, block, row, column, or the entire spreadsheet. Format

A form of graph which represents numeric values as segments of a circle. Pie Chart

In order from small numbers to larger numbers, or from a to z (alphabetical) Ascending Order
In order from large numbers to smaller numbers, or from z to a (reverse alphabetical) Descending Order
