Trace evidence is very small physical material that can be transferred from person to person or between a person and a crime scene.
cortex the largest protin of the shaft giving you the hair color that you have (naturally, at lest)
cuticle the layer of cells that cover the surface of the shaft and looks like scales on a fish or even roofing tiles.
Medulla cells that run down the center of the cortex like a canal.
Medullary index is greater than 0.5 Animal
Medullary index is around 0.3 human
The study of hair is known as trichology
Which hairs provide the most features for comparison to other hairs scalp hair
Example of trace evidence hair, dirt, fibers.plant etc.
3 medulla patterns are continous,interrupted, fragmented
Hair is best for anaylysis scalp
The hair itself contains many toxine (like arsenic)and you can extract DNA from the follicle.
Classification of fibers are Mineral, Animal, vegatable,synthetic.
