Conflict | Problem |
*Internal Conflict | Struggle within one self |
-Person v.s self | Character must make a difficult decision |
*External Conflict | Struggle an outside force |
-Man v.s Man | Conflict between two people or groups |
-Man v.s Fate | Person with a problem w/one self's fate |
-Man v.s Society | One Person is in a conflict with a group |
-Man v.s Nature | Struggle against any force of nature |
Plot | Sequence of events |
*Exposition | All background info is giving |
*Narrative Hook | The conflict is revealed |
*Rising Action | All events leading to climax |
*Climax | Most exciting part/ Turning point |
*Falling Action | All events leading to ending |
*Conclusion | The end |
Narrator | The person telling the story |
*Tone | Narrator/author attitude toward the story. |
*Point Of View | How the story is told. |
1st Person | Uses " I,me,our,my,use"... |
3rd Person | Narrator is not part of the story." he,she".. One character |
3rd Omniscient | Many characters "he,she,they,them"... |

Protagonist | "Good Guy" Who the story is mainly about. |

Dynamic | Whose thoughts attitudes change |
Static Character | Whose thoughts never change |
Flat | One personalty trait |
Round | Many personalty trait |
*Indirect Characterization | Personality of character is revealed thoughts, commands and actions |
Direct Characterization | Narrator tells the personality |
Symbol | Something that stands for something |
Irony | Difference between appearance and reality |
Foreshadowing | Hints to what will happen later on |
Suspense | Quality of a story that keep you interested |
