Question | Answer |
---|---|
What are the elements of design? | The elements of design are: line, shape, texture, color, and form. |
What are the princaple of design? | Balance, rhythm, proprtion/scale, emphasis, and unity |
What is the princaple repitition? | A design that is constantly repeated throught a room. |
How does texture affect color? | Rough texture appears darker because it absorbs more light, and smooth reflects light so it looks lighter. |
What do curved lines suggest? | Curved lines suggest coziness, delicateness, and comfort. |
What is the difference between horizontal, vertical, and radial balance. | Horizontal goes from side to side, verycal goes up and down, and radial goes out from the center. |
What do diagonal lines suggest? | Diagonal lines suggets movement, activity, adn excitement. |
What is space? | The interior space you have to work with. |
What are the ofur types of rhythm? | The four types of rhythm are gradiation, radiation, repitetion, and continuous line. |
What is asymmetrical balance? Example? | Asymmetrical balance is both parts of the design are not identical when cut down the middle, but are equal in visual weight. for example on one side of my table I have a rectangular basket, and on the other a picture frame. |
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines? | Horizontal goes side to side, and vertical goes up to down. |
What is the golden mean? | The golden mean is the ratio of 3:5 |
What is the difference between shape and form? | Shape is the area you have to work with and form is the way something is formed. For example a space is large but its form is rectangular. |
What are the five types of balance? | The five types are: vertical, horizontal, radial, symetrical, and asymetrical. |
What does unity or harmony mean? | Achieving harmony/unity means that all elements and princaples of design work together and compliment each other in a pleasing fashion. |
What are the two things texture involoves? | Texture involves the way you think something feels, and the way it actually feels. |
What are the four types of line? | The four types of line are vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and curved. |
What is proportion? | Proportionn tells how the design is visually divided. |
What is symetrical balance? Example? | Symetrical balance is when parts of the design are equal. For example if I had a vase on one side of my table and the exact same one on the other side of my table. |
What is emphasis? What is another name for it? | Emphasis is the object or idea that stands out. Another word for that is focal point. |
What is another name for symetrical balance? | Another name for symetrical balance is informal balance. |
what is the difference between gradation and radiation? | The difference is radiation goes out from the middle of the design, and gradation is a design that increases in size. |
Which of the five types of balance suggests excitement or interest? | The one of the five types of balance that suggests excitement is diagonal. |
