Color Terms

QuestionAnswer
How do you percieve white? White is perceived when all the wavelengths are reflected back to your eye.
How do you percieve black? Black is perceived when no light is reflected to your eye.
What is hue? It is color.
What are the primary colors? Red, Blue, Yellow.
What are the secondary colors? Violet, Green, Orange.
What are the tertiary colors? Red-violet, Blue-violet, Blue-green, Yellow-green, Yellow-orange, Red-orange
What is a saturated color? All the colors on the color wheel.
What three groups make up the color wheel? Primary, Secondary, Tertiary.
What is a tint? A saturated color that is mixed with pure white color.
What is a shade? A saturated color that is mixed with pure black color.
What are three colors that are considered to be warm colors? Orange, Red, Yellow
What are three colors that are considered to be cool colors? Blue, Violet, Green
What are the five neutral colors? Black, Gray, White, Brown, Tan
What are the six types of color harmonies? Monochromatic, Analogous, Complementary, Triadic, Split Complementary, Neutral.
What is a monochromatic color harmony? Tints and Shades of one color.
What is an analougus color harmony? Three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
What is a complementary color harmony? Two colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel.
What is a triadic color harmony? Three colors that are located within equal distance of each other.
What is a split complementary scheme? Any color and the two colors located next to that the color compliments the first color.
What is a neutral color scheme? Any combination of Blacks, Grays, Whites, Browns, Tans.
