Color Terms

How do you perceive white? when an object emits every color in the spectrum it is white. What is a tint? saturated color that is mixed with pure white. What is a complimentary color harmony? 2 colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel.
How do you perceive black? when an object absorbs every color in the spectrum it is black. What is a shade? a saturaded color that is mixed with pure black. What is a triadic color harmony? 3 colors that are located within equal distance of each other on the color wheel.
What is hue? Hue refers to the color itself. What are three colors that are considered to be warm colors? red, orange, yellow. What is a split complimenetary scheme? using any color and the two colors located next to that colors complement.
What three groups make up the color wheel? Primary, Secondary, Tertiary. What is an analagous color harmony? 3 or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. What is a neutral color scheme? Any combination of Blacks, Greys, Whites, Browns, & Tans.
What are the primary colors? Red, Blue, Yellow. What are three colors that are considered to be cool colors? blue, green, violet.
What are the secondary colors? Green, Purple, Orange. What are the five neutral colors? black, grey, white, brown, tan.
What are the tertiary colors? red-violet, blue-violet, blue-green, yellow-green, yellow-orange, red-orange. What are the six types of color harmonies? monochromatic, analougus, complimentary, triadic, split complimentary, neutral.
What is a saturated color? when there is no white or black in a color. What is a monochromatic color harmony? using tints and shades of one color.
