color terms

How do you perceive white? When all wavelengths reach the eyes.
how do you perceive black? When no light is reflected into the eyes.
What is a hue? The name of a color.
what are the primary colors? the 3 basic colors used to create all the other colors.
what are the secondary colors? the 3 colors that are achieved from equal parts of the primary colors.
what are the tertiary colors? when you mix equal parts of primary and secondary colors.
what is a saturated color? a color that has no white or black mixed in.
what three groups make up the color wheel? primary, secondary, and tertiary.
what is a tint? a saturated color mixed with white.
what is a shade? a saturated color mixed with black.
what are 3 colors that are considered warm colors? red, orange, and yellow
what are 3 colors to be considered cool colors? blue, green and violet.
what are 5 neutral colors? black, grey, white, brown and tan.
what are 6 types of color harmonies? monochromatic, analogous, complementary,triadic, split complementary and neutral.
what is a monochromatic color harmony? tints and shades of only 1 color.
what is an analogous color harmony? two or 3 colors next to each other on the color wheel.
what is a complementary color harmony? two colors directly across from each other on he color wheel
what is a triadic color harmony? three colors that are an equal distance from each other.
what is a split complementary color harmony? using any color and the 2 colors and the 2 colors located next to that colors compliment.
what is a neutral color scheme? any combination of blacks, whites, tans, greys and browns.
