CCPS - Internet vocabulary words

QuestionAnswer
Internet many computers that are connected throughout the world. A global network.
Online Means that you are connected to the Internet.
Browser software that lets you get on the internet. (ex. Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netzero, Netscape Navigator,etc...)
Search Engine a program on the internet that lets you look for things/information by keyword or topic. (ex. Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves, etc...)
Address Bar the bar at the top of a web page that shows the address, or where you put in a specific address.
Homepage The first page of a website. Acts like a table of contents.
URL Uniform Resource Locator. Means an internet address
(Hyper)Links connects 2 websites together. Usually highlighted, or underlined, or a different font word. It can also be a graphic. (What you click on in a website to take you to another page.)
Bookmark keeps track of a website. Let's you return to a website quickly.
Address Shows the location of a website.
Web site a collection of web pages that usually contains information on a specific topic, has a home page and additional pages
Search bar The bar in a search engine where you put the keyword or topic that you are searching for.
network computers connected to each other to share information
Chat real time communication between two users on computers.
Cyberbullying online harrassment of an individual by others.
Spyware software program that gathers user information and may change computer settings without your permission and without you knowing it, usually for advertising purposes
Blog Short for Weblog. A website where the author makes entries in a diary/journal style.
