CHAPTER 1, what are four primary operatons of computer? Input,data output, resuls of processes processes, functions executed by the comp. storage, holds data at a physical loc.i.e hard drives, flash drives, CD-DVD Rom.
Describe the difference between data and information? Data, is input and the comp processes it. Information, data is modified or processed.
Explain cloud computer? Refers to data, applications and resources stored on computers rather than on user's comuters and you access only what you need when you need it.
List the six categories of computers? Embedded computers, mobile devices computers then and now, personal computers, midrange servers, mainframe computers, supercomputers.
Describe virtualization? concepts are beginning to be applied to other computing areas. Networking and storage.
What are supercomputers? Powerful and expensive, so they connect hundreds of smaller computers into a supercomputer.
What is a network? Is a collection of computers and other devices connected to share hardware, software,and data.
What are the three parts of an email address? username @ symbol Internet service provider.
Describe computer ethics? Refer to standards of moral conduct
In chapter 2, What is a bit? The smallest unit of data that a binary computer can recognize
What is a byte? Eight bits grouped together.
What is the main circuit board inside the system unit? A thin board containing computer chips and other electronic components.
What is the main processing device for a computer? The mother board.The main circuit board inside the system unit.
Explain the difference between RAM and ROM? Ransom access memory is used to store the essential parts of the operating system while the computer is running, as well as (RAM)the programs and data that the computer is currently using ROM,volatile content is erased when memory ceases.
List the three types of optical disks? CD, DVD, AND BD drives are designed to be read by optic drives.
Name the most common pointing device? The mouse
In chapter 3, Explain multitasking? The ability of an operating system to hve more than one program (tasks) open at one time.
List the five most popular personal computer operating systems? Dos, Windows,Windows server and Windows home Server, Mac OS and Mac OS X Server.
What does mutimedia refer to? Any application that contains more than one type of media; often used to refer to audio and video content.
In chapter 5, What is an internet service provider? A business or other organization that provides internet access to others typically for a fee.
What is a webinary? Web seminars, similar to wev conferences with a designated presenter and an audience.
Why do some people block cookies? People put blocks against cookies that attempt to track your activities across the web.called "third party cookies",
What is included in an email message header? Senders e-mail address Date, time sent to whom:,Cc, Bcc and file/attached.
What is the history list? Tracks the Web pages you visit over a certain time period and not just during a browsing session.
What is the difference between replying to an email message and forwarding it? Replying can be done directly to a message you receive, forwarding creates a copy of the original message and body, but leaves the To, Cc, and Bcc boxes blank.
In chapter 3,what are media players? Are programms designed to play audio and video files available on a persons computer, such as music CDs, downloaded music, or video streamed from the internet.
Explain desktop publishing? Refers to using a personal computer to combine and manipulate text and images to create documents, as if they were created by a professional printer
