QuestionAnswer
application A software program that runs on your computer.
Avatar A graphical image that represents a person.
backup A copy or duplicate version of a file or computer system.
Beta A phase which checks for bugs, errors, crashes, and inconsistencies.
blog A website where the writer shares there own experience.
browser A software program that allows the user to read encoded documents in a form suitable for display.
byte 8 bits that form a unit.
bit The smallest unit of computer memory.
RAM A memory module that stands for Random Access Memory.
hard drive Stores all your data, a solid encasement of discs that spin extremely fast.
flash drive A small data storage device that uses flash memory and has a built-in USB connection.
Megabyte It can be estimated as 10 to the 6th power, or one million (1,000,000) bytes. It is 1,000 kilobytes and precedes the gigabyte unit of measurement.
kilobyte It is 2 to the 10th power, or 1,000 bytes.
gigabyte It is 2 to the 30th power, or 1,000,000,000 bytes.
terabyte 1,000,000,000,000 bytes.
processor This little chip is the heart of a computer it does all the computations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
megahertz MHz 1,000 kilohertz, or 1,000,000 hertz. It can also be described as one million cycles per second.
gigahertz GHz 1,000 megahertz (MHz) or 1,000,000,000 Hz. It is commonly used to measure computer processing speeds.
hertz the standard unit of measurement used for measuring frequency.1 hertz equals 1 cycle per second.
clock speed the rate at which a processor can complete a processing cycle. It is typically measured in megahertz or gigahertz.
