Application Is a software program that runs on your computer.
Avatar Specifically refers to a character that represents an online user.
Backup A copy of one or more files created as an alternate in case the original data is lost or becomes unusable.
Beta A phase of testing encase of bugs.
Blog Short for "Web Log," this term refers to a list of journal entries posted on a Web page.
Browser You are probably using it to read this right now.Is the program people use to access the World Wide Web.
Bit smallest unit of computer data.
Byte A set of 8 bits that represent a single character in the computer's memory.
RAM Stands for "Random Access Memory".It is made up of small memory chips that form a memory module.
hard drive It stores all your data. And its a little larger than your hand.
flash drive jump drives, thumb drives, pen drives, and USB keychain drives. Regardless of what you call them, they all refer to the same thing, which is a small data storage device that uses flash memory and has a built-in USB connection.
kilobyte equal to 1 thousand bytes.
megabyte equal to 1 million bytes.
gigabyte equal to 1 billion bytes.
processor This little chip is the heart of a computer.It does all the computations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Mega Hertz MHz Equal to 1,000 kilohertz, or 1,000,000 hertz.
gigahertz GHz Equal to 1,000 megahertz (MHz) or 1,000,000,000 Hz.
hertz Is the standard unit of measurement used for measuring frequency. 1 hertz equals 1 cycle per second.
clock speed Is the rate at which a processor can complete a processing cycle.
