Backup A backup is a copy of one or more files created as an alternate in case the original data is lost or becomes unusable
Beta Before a commercial software program is released to the public, it usually goes through a "beta" phase.During this stage, the software is tested for bugs, crashes, errors, inconsistencies, and any other problems.
Blog Short for "Web Log," this term refers to an online journal entries posted on a Web page. Anybody who knows how to create and publish a Web page can publish their own blog.
Browser A Web browser, often just called a "browser," is the program people use to access the World Wide Web. Reads HTML
Byte A byte is a set of 8 bits that represent a single character in the computer's memory. Do not confuse this term with "bite,"
Bit The computer term "bit" comes from the phrase "Binary DigIT" A bit is a single digit number in base-2 (a zero or a one) and is the smallest unit of computer data. (A full page of text is composed of about 16,000 bits.)
RAM Stands for "Random Access Memory", RAM is made up of small memory chips that form a memory module.) Helps programs run/load.These modules are installed in the RAM slots on the motherboard of your computer.)
Hard Drive The term "hard drive" is actually short for "hard disk drive." The term "hard disk" refers to the actual disks inside the drive. -- the PLACE where your data is stored.
Flash Drive (USB) Flash drives have many names — jump drives, thumb drives, pen drives, etc etc. drives. Regardless of what you call them, they all refer to the same thing, which is a small data storage device that uses flash memory and has a built-in USB connection
Megabyte One million bytes. A megabyte is 1,024 kilobytes and precedes the gigabyte unit of measurement. Large computer files are typically measured in megabytes.
Kilobyte 1,000 bytes. While this makes it easier to add kilobytes together, estimating throws off larger measurements.
Gigabyte one billion bytes. Hard drive sizes are measured in gigabytes.
Terabyte A terabyte is one trillion.
Processor This little chip is the heart of a computer. Also referred to as the "microprocessor", the processor does all the computations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Megahertz (MHz) One megahertz (abbreviated: MHz) is equal to 1,000,000 hertz. It can also be described as one million cycles per second. Megahertz is used to measure wave frequencies, as well as the speed of microprocessors. second fastest
Gigahertz (GHz) One gigahertz is equal to 1,000 megahertz (MHz) or 1,000,000,000 Hz. It is commonly used to measure computer processing speeds measured in megahertz.fastest
Hertz (Hz) Hertz (abbreviated: Hz) is the standard unit of measurement used for measuring frequency. Since frequency is measured in cycles per second, one hertz equals one cycle per second. slowest
Clock Speed Clock speed is the rate at which a processor can complete a processing cycle. It is typically measured in megahertz or gigahertz. One megahertz is equal to one million cycles per second, while one gigahertz equals one billion cycles per second.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
