Application A computer program or piece of software.
Avatar Virtual person that represents a person or player.
Blog an online journal.
Backup A copy of one or more files.
Byte 8 bits of computer memory.
Beta During this stage, the software is tested for bugs, crashes, errors, and any other problems.
Browser a piece of computer software used to search for information on the internet
Bit smallest unit of computer storage
RAM random access memory, like short term memory.
Hard Drive memory inside computer that stores data and software.
Flash Drive a small plastic device to go into a USB port that holds memory.
Megabyte a unit of computer data or storage space equivalent to 1,000,000 bytes
Kilobyte a unit of computer data or storage space equivalent to 1,000 bytes
Gig a unit of computer data or storage space equivalent to 1,000,000,000 bytes
Clock Speed the speed of a microprocessor's internal clock that controls how fast a computer makes calculations, usually measured in megahertz (MHz) or gigahertz (GHz)
Hertz Hertz is the standard unit of measurement used for measuring frequency. One hertz=1 cycle per second.
Gigahertz GHz One gigahertz is equal to 1,000 megahertz (MHz) or 1,000,000,000 Hz. It is commonly used to measure computer processing speeds.
Megahertz MHz One megahertz is equal to 1,000,000 hertz. one million cycles per second. 1,000,000 cycles per second.
Terabyte memory equal to 1,000,000,000,000
Processor A small chip in the heart of the computer.
