Application A software program that runs on your computer.
Avatar A character that represent an online player.
backup A copy of one or more files.
Beta The pre stages of a software program.
Blog List of journal entries posted on a Web page.
Browser The program people use to access the World Wide Web.
Byte A byte is a set of 8 bits that represent a single character in the computer's memory.
Bit A bit is a single digit number in base-2 (a zero or a one) and is the smallest unit of computer data.
RAM Made up of small memory chips that form a memory module. Random Access Memory
Hard Drive What stores your data.
Flash Drive A small storage device.
Megabyte Measure of one million bytes.
Kilobyte Measure of one thousand bytes.
Gigabyte Measure of one billion bytes.
Terabyte Measure of one trillion bytes.
Processor Does all the computations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
Megahertz MHz Is used to measure wave frequencies, as well as the speed of microprocessors. Equal to 1000 Kilohertz.
Gigahertz GHz Is used to measure wave frequencies, as well as the speed of microprocessors. Equal to 1000 Megahertz.
Hertz Is used to measure wave frequencies, as well as the speed of microprocessors. 1 Hertz= 1 cycle per second.
Clock Speed Is the rate at which a processor can complete a processing cycle.
