QuestionAnswer
Desktop The start up screen. The place where the icons, and Start menu are at.
Monitor the screen of the computer. (output)
Application A software program that does a job (ex. IE, Typing Master, Open Office, games,...)
Menu a list of choices.
Flash Drive removable drive and memory
Touch Typing Typing without looking at your fingers and with your fingers on the right keys.
Select to choose something or highlight something.
Scroll to move up, down, or across a screen.
Enter/Return when typing the cursor goes down a line, confirms a command.
Caps Lock Key capitalizes the letters that you are typing, when pushed.
Font style or size of letters.
Document what you make in an application.
Virus a program sent by somebody to purposefully hurt your computer
Dialog Box the way the computer talks/communicates to you.
Folder a place where you save and organize your documents/files
Home Row the place where you put your fingers on the keyboard (ASDF JKL;)
Word Processor Program you use to type letters, words, papers, etc... (ex.Open Office – Text Document)
Alignment Position of the text, place where your writing starts
Margin the blank area on the outside of your paper
Cursor The blinking line that tells you where your text is at.
Number Lock Key the key that switches the numeric keypad on or off. When off the numeric keypad does other cursor operations
Shift Key A key that when pushed and combined with another key gives the additional key an alternate meaning.
Research Paper A report written on a topic using facts from various sources
Opinion Paper A report written expressing an opinion on a topic
Bulleted List A list that uses symbols at the beginning of each item on the list
Numbered List A list that uses numbers (going up in order) at the beginning of each item on the list
Line Spacing The amount of space that is between lines on a word processor
