Security Threats

Malware Malicious Software. Program that acts without a user's knowledge and deliberately alters computer's operations
Virus potentially damaging computer program that affects or infects a computer by altering the way the computer works without a user's knowledge or permission
Worm a logic program that copies itself repeatedly. It uses up system resources and possibly shutting down the system
Trojan-Horse a type of virus that hides within or looks like a legitimate program
Spyware a program that is placed on a computer without the user's knowledge and secretly collect information about the user
Adware a program that displays an online advertisement in a banner or pop-up window on web pages, email or other internet services.
Botnet a few network computers attacking a single computer or program. Usually a specific attack
