Resolution | related to the output in dpi that affects the printed image. This is built into the camera. 240 dpi yields an 8x12 image |
Adjustment layers | layers allow you to make adjustments to the image without changing the original image file |
Background | this is the original image file |
Black & White | this is a layer that mask all of the color information from the original image |
Levels | this layer allows manipulation of the tonal qualities of the image |
Histogram | a graph that visually represents the 256 tonal gradations of the image |
Gray slider | located on the value bar, this slider sets the midpoint of the values in relation to the histogram. moving this slider changes the overall exposure |
Input end sliders | located on the value bar as the gray slider, these are used to increase the contrast of the image |
Output end sliders | located below the value bar, these sliders are used to lower the contrast of the image |
Curves | this layer allows for refinement of value and contrast of the different parts of the tonal scale |
How can you lighten the overall exposure? | Levels- middle gray left Curves- B&W to the upper left corner |
