Explain diff betw multilingual and ballanced Bilingual? Multilingual is learning two or more lang's. Balanced bilingual is to have equally proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in two languages in most all areas
Two def. of bilingualism and why they don't characterize it well? 1)Simultaneous learning of two languages beginning at birth. problem: not all learn a 2nd land at birth 2) Habitual use of 2 lang's particularly in speaking. Problem: many people may habitually read or write in the lang but not speak much.
Are you a late L2 learner? Explain? Did you learn a 2nd lang after puberty? the you would be a late L2 learner.
Explain diff betw learning Spanish, french as a Second Lang and learning them as a foreign lang? If you learn a second language in a country where it is spoken natively then it would be learned as a SECOND lang but if you learn a second lang where it is not spoken natively then it would be refered to as a Foreign lang.
Is second language (L2) acquisition the same as first language (L1) Acquisition? Fundamentally different based on the Fundamenta diffence hypothesis. One learned consciously the other unconsciously, use stages but different types.
How do Adults learn a second language? Do they go through stages? L2 in adults is learned consiously; they go through the interlanguage grammar stage on the way to the target lang.
Do they achieve a native-like proficiency in the target language? Why? The proficiency depends on their motivation, age, degree of fossilization of the vocal apparatus, talent, location where lang learned, time spent, most all are left with an accent.
