PSD-95 Scaffolding protein located at the postsynaptic density that acts as an anchor for AMPA receptors according to the slot hypothesis.
Synaptotagmin and Synaptobrevin Membrane proteins that mediate calcium-triggered vesicle fusion at neuronal synapses.
Membrane Attack Complex (MAC) Immune complex formed by C5b, C6, C7, C8, and C9 proteins that polymerizes on target cell membranes to induce lysis.
Archaea Membranes Biological membranes characterized by ether linkages and isoprenoid side chains rather than ester linkages.
Gram-Negative Bacterial Envelope Structure consisting of an inner membrane, a thin peptidoglycan layer, and an outer membrane containing lipopolysaccharides (Lipid A, O antigen) and porins.
Beta-lactams Antibiotics (such as penicillin) that inhibit DD-transpeptidases to disrupt bacterial cell wall cross-linking.
Cellulose Synthase Complexes Particle rosettes responsible for synthesizing cellulose fibers in plant cell walls.
Robeson Limit The theoretical upper limit balancing permeability and selectivity in synthetic membrane separation processes.
Gibbs-Donnan Effect Uneven distribution of charged particles across a semi-permeable membrane due to non-diffusible ions.
Nafion Sulfonated PTFE fluoropolymer used as a proton-exchange semi-permeable membrane in fuel cells.
