What are the six main sources of water on Earth? Oceans, ice, groundwater, lakes, rivers, and streams.

What are four methods used to make water safer to drink? Boiling, filtration, desalination, and chlorination.
Why is carbon dioxide added to water? To make the water fizzy.
Why is fluoride added to water? To prevent tooth decay.
Why is chlorine added to water? To kill harmful bacteria.
What can happen if water is not managed carefully? It can lead to drought, flooding, or pollution.
How can towns and cities be protected from flooding? Keep drains clear of rubbish and build flood defences.
How can towns and cities be protected from drought? Save water, turn off taps properly, and take shorter showers.
How can water systems be protected from factory pollution? Clean waste water from factories before it re-enters the system.
What is the main disadvantage of drinking sea water? It contains salt.
What term describes a substance that can dissolve in water? Soluble.
What is the boiling point of water? 100°C
What is the melting point of water? 0°C
What term is used to describe the water turning to water vapour in the water cycle? Evaporation
