Charlotte's Web

Charlottes's Web Notes

QuestionAnswer
Wilbur The famous runt pig raised by Fern Arable who is saved from being turned into pork chops by a clever spider.
Charlotte The grey barn spider who spins words like "SOME PIG!" and "TERRIFIC" into her web to save Wilbur.
Templeton The greedy, food-loving farm rat who searches trash dumps for newspaper ads to give Charlotte inspiration for her web words.
Homer Zuckerman Fern Arable's uncle and the owner of the farm barn where Wilbur lives and where the magical written webs appear.
514 The total number of spider eggs tucked inside Charlotte's peach-colored sac, from which 511 babies eventually "fly" away.
Ballooning The natural process where newborn spiders spin small silk parachutes and use the warm breeze to fly away to new homes.
Joy and Aranea Two of Charlotte's three baby daughters (along with Nellie) who choose to stay behind in the barn instead of ballooning away.
Humble The final word woven into the silk web at the county fairgrounds, which Templeton found on a scrap of paper in the trash.
Terrific One of the early words woven by Charlotte into her web to amaze the local townspeople, along with "Some Pig" and "Radiant."
E.B. White The famous American author who wrote this classic 1952 children's novel, as well as "Stuart Little" and "The Trumpet of the Swan."
Dr. Dorian The local doctor to whom Fern's mother turns for help when she becomes worried that Fern spends too much time talking to barn animals.
What's a life, anyways? The poignant quote spoken by Charlotte to Wilbur at the fairgrounds before passing away, reflecting on the natural cycles of life.
