Amarna Art Style The naturalistic, highly stylized artistic movement favored by Akhenaten, emphasizing elongated skulls, thin necks, and exaggeratedly wide hips.
Amenhotep III The wealthy and powerful father of Akhenaten, known as "Amenhotep the Magnificent," with whom Akhenaten may have briefly shared a coregency.
Thutmose The ancient court sculptor whose workshop at Amarna yielded the iconic, single-eyed polychrome limestone bust of Queen Nefertiti.
Tushratta The Mitanni king whose complaints in the Amarna Letters accused Akhenaten of sending cheap gold-plated wooden statues instead of solid gold.
Rib-Hadda The beleaguered king of Byblos (Gubla) who sent dozens of desperate pleas for military aid to Akhenaten while besieged by the warlord Aziru.
KV55 The mysterious, desecrated tomb in the Valley of the Kings discovered by Edward Ayrton that is widely believed to hold Akhenaten's reinterred mummy.
Talatat The small, standardized limestone blocks developed during Akhenaten's reign to allow for the ultra-rapid construction of his new open-air temples.
Horemheb The final pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty who completed the systematic dismantling of Amarna and condemned Akhenaten as a "criminal" and "enemy."
