Mount Frissell The mountain whose southern slopes contain the highest point in Connecticut.
Quinnipiac University The Hamden-based institution famous for its political polling and museum of Irish history.
Old Saybrook The coastal town where the Connecticut River meets the Long Island Sound.
Lyme The coastal city that gave its name to a tick-borne disease discovered in the 1970s.
P.T. Barnum The circus promoter who served as mayor of Bridgeport; his namesake museum is a city landmark.
Groton The "Submarine Capital of the World" and home to the USS Nautilus museum.
Insurance Capital The nickname for Hartford due to its high concentration of major insurance company headquarters.
Apizza The specific dialectal term for pizza used in the New Haven area.
Little Miss 1565 The name given to an unidentified young victim of the tragic 1944 Hartford Circus Fire.
