The Child’s Bath A Japanese-influenced painting by Mary Cassatt depicting a mother in a striped dress washing a child’s feet.
A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte A massive Pointillist masterpiece by Georges Seurat featuring a woman holding a monkey on a leash.
Pointillism A technique pioneered by Seurat and Paul Signac using small dots of primary colors to create a larger image.
Giverny The location of Claude Monet’s home and garden, famous for its Japanese bridge and water lilies.
The Ten A group of American Impressionists, including William Merritt Chase and John Henry Twachtman, who resigned from the Society of American Artists.
Berthe Morisot A founding member of the Impressionists and one of "les trois grandes dames," known for her work "The Cradle."
Rouen Cathedral A series of over 30 paintings by Monet capturing the same stone facade at different times of day and light conditions.
Heidelberg School An Australian art movement that applied Impressionist plein air techniques to the local landscape.
Louis Leroy The art critic who sarcastically titled his review "The Exhibition of the Impressionists," giving the movement its name.
Portrait of Félix Fénéon A Pointillist work by Paul Signac depicting a critic holding a white cyclamen flower against swirling colors.
Alfred Sisley A dedicated Impressionist landscape painter known for his depictions of the Thames and the French countryside.
Luncheon of the Boating Party A Renoir painting depicting a group of friends relaxing on a balcony at the Maison Fournaise.
Japonism The influence of Japanese art, particularly ukiyo-e woodblock prints, on 19th-century French Impressionists.
