Adrenal Gland pair of glands located on top of the kidneys which support the "fight or flight" response and kidney functions
Endocrine System series of ductless glands which secrete hormones into the body to regulate vital body and organ functions
Endocrine Glands do not have ducts and secrete directly into the blood stream
Exocrine Glands have ducts which secrete directly onto the surface
Feedback Loops cause and effect process used to show how the body maintains homeostasis
Hormones chemical messengers used to regulate physiological functions and behaviors
Hypothalamus small region of the brain located directly above the pituitary gland
Ovaries supports female reproductive system regulation
Pancreas located posterior to the stomach and supports blood sugar regulation
Parathyroid gland four tiny round glands embedded into the posterior side of the thyroid gland which supports blood calcium levels
Pineal gland located anterior and inferior to the thalamus and the functions are still not completely clear
Pituitary gland small gland sitting in a bony hollow in the base of the skull beneath the brain and behind the nose which produces many hormones controlling different processes in the body, control center
Pituitary-Hypothalamus Complex "command center" which coordinates messages between the nervous system and endocrine system by producing hormones
Testes supports male reproductive system development
Thymus supports immune system development
Thyroid gland butterfly shaped gland located in the front of the neck which supports metabolic rate
