Alchemist A name for people in the past who studied the combination of chemicals
States of matter The different forms of matter that include solid, liquid, and gas
Gas A state of matter, such as water when it's steam
Matter Anything that takes up space and has weight; can be in different forms such as solid, liquid, or gas
Model A pretend version of something that scientists use when the real thing is too big, too small, or too complicated to work with
Solution A special kind of mixture where you cannot tell the different parts from each other
Evidence Information that can be used to support or reject each other
Acid A substance that is usually sour, such as vinegar or orange juice
Substance A material that has specific properties
Invent To create something new, often an object or a way of doing something
Carbon Dioxide A type of gas that plants sometimes take in and that animals release when they breathe
Mixture A combination of two or more things
Liquid A state of matter, such as water when you can pour it
Oxygen A type of gas that plants release and animals breathe in
Experiment A test used to discover new information about a question
Dissolve When one substance mixes with another and it looks like it disappears, such as when sugar mixes into tea
Particles A very tiny thing, sometimes too small to be seen
Chemical Reaction A process where one or more substances form a new substance
Observe To pay close attention to something
Property something you can observe about an object or material
Explosion When something bursts outwards
