Literary terms
| Term | Definition |

| Plot | the series of events in the story. |
| Exposition | The introduction of characters, backgrounds information, and setting. |
| Rising Action | Are events leading up t the climax of the story. |
| Falling Action | Are events directly following the climax of the story. |
| Climax | The most interesting part oof the turning point in the story. |
| Resolution | The conclusion of the story where all the loose ends are tied. |
| Conflict | The problem or struggle in the story. |
| External Conflict | is one that can be seen and involves a character struggle against an opposing force: another character or obstacle. |
| Internal Conflict | Occurs within the character heart or mind. |
| Setting | The when, where, and environment of the story |
| Chronological Order | The way in which events occur in real time. |
| Foreshadow | Hints or clue the author gives about what will happen in the story. |
| Flashback | A scene or event from the past that interrupts the present time line. |
| Flash Forward | A scene or event that jumps forward i time. |
| Mood | How the author makes the reader feel. |
| Tone | How the author feels. |
