Info Tech Data Cycle
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Data Capture | creating data values do not yet exist and have not within the enterprise, where the data can be acquired, entered, or generated from automated systems and ensures that the data is correctly captured |
| Data Maintainence | has tasks like movement, integration, cleansing and enrichment, changed data captures, where it prepares data for use in the business |
| Data Synthesis | creates new data based on probable logic using other data as input |
| Data Usage | Application of data as information to tasks needed for an enterprise |
| Data Publication | sending data to a location outside of the enterprise (ex. Sending invoices, tax returns, data breaches, etc.), where that data sent outside the organization cannot be recalled or corrected |
| Data Archival | copying of data to an environment where it is stored in case it needed again in an active production environment and the removal of the data from all active production environments |
| Data Purging | Removal of every copy of a data item from the enterprise that is based on an organization’s document retention policies or on regulatory factors |
