What is another name for Action Potential? Nerve Impulse
Function of a Neurotransmitter? Function of a Neurotransmitter is determined by the postsynaptic receptor.
Small- molecule neurotransmitters include? Acetylcholine, Amines, Amino acids, and Nitric oxide.
What are Neuropeptides? Large-molecule neurotransmitters.
What are the three meninges layers from inner to outer layer? Pia, Arachnoid, and dura mater.
What is the function of Cerebrospinal Fluid ? Provides a supportive, protective cushion.
How many ventricles are within the brain? There are four ventricles within the brain. First and second are lateral, third one is medial to the lateral ventricle, and fourth ventricle is tiny, diamond-shaped space where the cerebellum attaches to the back of the brainstem.
What region of the brain consists of the medulla oblongata, pons, and midbrain? Brainstem
When are most new neurons produced? Before and shortly after birth.
Functions of brainstem? Performs sensory, motor, and reflex functions.
What Neurotransmitter is Melatonin made from? Serotonin.
What is dumbbell-shaped mass of gray matter made up of many nuclei? Thalamus
How many cranial nerve pairs do we have? 12
Which nerve carries information about sense of smell? Olfactory Nerve l (CN l)
What is the function of the optic nerve? Carries visual information from eyes to the brain.
What are two functional division of the peripheral nervous system (PNS)? Afferent (sensory) division and Efferent (motor) division.
