| Transmembrane | A protein that spans across the entire cell membrane and helps move substances in and out of the cell |
| Ligand | A molecule that binds to a receptor to trigger a response |
| Autonomic Nervous system | Control involuntary actions- breathing, heartbeat, digestion, pupils, blood pressure |
| Somatic Nervous Sytem | Controls voluntary actions- skeletal muscles |
| Endocrine Gland | Release hormones directly into the bloodstream |
| Hypothalamus | The control center of the brain that regulates hormones, temperature, thirst, hunger , and links the nervous system to the endocrine system |
| Pituitary Gland | The "Master gland" that controls other endocrine glands |
| Thyroid | Gland in the neck that regulates metabolism, energy, and body temperature |
| Pancreas | Control over the bodies blood sugar- produce insulin and glucagon to regulate blood sugar |
| Lymph | Clear fluid that carries waste, immune cells, and drains excess fluid from tissues |
| Inhaling | Breathing air into the lungs, diaphragm moves down |
| Exhaling | Breathing air out of the lungs, diaphragm moves up |
| Sternum | Is the Middle bone of the chest that ribs connect to |
| small intestine | Longest digestive organ where most nutrients absorption happens |
