TermDefinition
Diffusion The passive movement of molecule from an area of higher concentration to an area of low concentration.
Tissue A group of similar cells working together to perform a specific function.
Neuron A specialized cell that transmits electrical impulses in the nervous system
Muscle Tissue A type of tissue responsible for movement, includes skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle.
Action Potential A rapid electrical signal that travels along a neuron, allowing communication between cells.
Mitochondria Organelles that produces ATP, that main energy source for cellular functions.
Negative Feedback A control mechanism that reverses a change to keep the body's internal environment stable.
Homeostasis The body's ability to maintain a stable internal environment despite external changes.
Cell Membrane A selectively permeable barrier that controls movement of substances into and out of the cell.
Osmosis The diffusion of water through a selectively permeable membrane.
