White Collar Crimes

TermDefinition
Blackmail The action treated a s a criminal offense, of demanding payment or another benefit from someone in return for not revealing compromising or damaging information about them.
Racketeering ​Using money derived from illegal activities to invest in legitimate businesses.
Actus Reus Action or conduct which is a constituent element of a crime, as opposed to the mental state of the accused.
Money Laundering The knowing and willful participation in a financial transaction involving unlawful proceeds when the transaction is designed to conceal or disguise the source of the funds.
Bribery ​Giving money, property, or any benefit to a person to influence that person's judgment.
Libel The printed equivalent of the spoken form of defamation known as slander.
Crime An action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law.
Extortion The practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats.
