| Blackmail | The action treated a s a criminal offense, of demanding payment or another benefit from someone in return for not revealing compromising or damaging information about them. |
| Racketeering | Using money derived from illegal activities to invest in legitimate businesses. |
| Actus Reus | Action or conduct which is a constituent element of a crime, as opposed to the mental state of the accused. |
| Money Laundering | The knowing and willful participation in a financial transaction involving unlawful proceeds when the transaction is designed to conceal or disguise the source of the funds. |
| Bribery | Giving money, property, or any benefit to a person to influence that person's judgment. |
| Libel | The printed equivalent of the spoken form of defamation known as slander. |
| Crime | An action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law. |
| Extortion | The practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats. |
