| market economy | economy based on the laws of supply and demand |
| supply | quantity of goods and services that producers are willing to provide |
| demand | willingness and ability of customers to buy goods and service |
| business cycle | alternating periods of growth consisting of recession trough recovery and growth. |
| financial aid | money received from an outside source to help pay for education |
| loan | money you borrow and must repay with interst |
| subsidized student loan | loan on which you pay no interest until after you have graduated |
| unsubsidized student loan | starts charging interest from the time the loan was made |
| grant | money given to pay for educational expenses that does not have to be repaid |
| scholarship | cash allowance awarded to a student to help pay for education |
