Color Terms

How do you perceive white? when the light in different wavelengths strike our eyes
How do you perceive black? when the light in different wavelengths strike our eyes
What is hue? a different reflected wavelength of light
What are the primary colors red, blue and yellow
What are the secondary colors? voilet, green and orange
What are tertiary colors? red-violet, blue-violet, blue-green, yellow-green, yellow-orange, and red-orange.
What is a saturated color? a color that has no black or white
What three groups make up the color wheel? primary, secondary and tertiary
What is a tint? a saturated color that is mixed with pure white color
What is a shade? a saturated color that is mixed with pure black color
What are three colors that are considered to be warm colors? red, orange and yellow
What are three colors that are considered to be cool colors? blue, green, and violet
What are the five neutral colors? black, grey, white, brown and tan
What are the six types of color harmonies? monochromatic, analogous, complementary, triadic, split complementary, and neutral
What is a monochromatic color harmony? they are made by using tints and shades of one color
What is an analougus color harmony? they are made by using three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel
What is a complementary color harmony? two colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel
What is a triadic color harmony? three colors that are within eaqual distance of each other on the color wheel
What is a split complementary scheme? they are made by using any color and two colors that are located next to that colors complement
What is a neutral color scheme? any combination of blacks, greys, whites, browns, and tans
