Basic Terminology

Internet Global collection of a lot of computer networks connected to each other for exchanging information - the hardware and software
World Wide Web (WWW) a graphical collection of electronic documents that are linked together like a spider web used to exchange information - the document portion
Web Page an Electronic document written in a computer language
Web Site one or more web pages that relate to a common theme
Hyperlinks text and images that reference the URL’s of other web pages
Uniform Resource Locator (URL) unique address which identifies the web page location on the server
Domain Name it is the main part of the URL
Web Browser software program used to access the World Wide Web
Bookmark an internet bookmark acts as a marker for a website – you add it to your favorites
