Color Terms

What are the primary colors? Red, Blue, and Yellow
How do you percieve white? Tints
How do you percieve black? Shades
What is hue? A color
What are the secondary colors? Green, Orange, Violet
What are the tertiary colors? Red Violet, Blue Violet, Green Blue, Green Yellow, Red Orange, Yellow Orange
What is a saturated color? A primary color that cant be changed EX blue, red, yellow
What three groups make up the color wheel? Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary
What is a tint? A saturated color mixed with a pure white color
What is a shade? A saturated color mixed with a pure black color
What are three colors that are considered to be warm colors? Yellow, Red, and Orange
What are three colors that are considered to be cool colors? Violet, Blue, and Green
What are the five neutral colors? Black, Grey, White, Brown, Tan
What are the six types of color harmonies? Monochromatic, Analougus, Split, Complementary, Triadic, and Nuetral
What is a monochromatic color harmony? Using tints and shades of only one color
What is an analougus color harmony? Using three of more colors that are located next to each other on the color wheel
What is a complementary color harmony? Using two colors that are located directly across from one another on the color wheel
What is a triadic color harmony? Using three colors that are located equal distances from one another on the color wheel
What is a split complementary scheme? Using any color and the two colors located next to the color's complement
What is a neutral color scheme? Any combination of blacks, grays, whites, browns, or tans
