What are the five primary senses? Vision, hearing, taste, smell, and touch.
Which part of the eye controls the amount of light entering? The iris.
What hormone does the thyroid gland produce to regulate metabolism? Thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
Which gland is considered the “master gland” of the endocrine system? The pituitary gland.
What structure separates the right and left sides of the heart? The septum.
Which valves prevent backflow into the atria during ventricular contraction? The atrioventricular (AV) valves—tricuspid and bicuspid (mitral).
What is the primary function of red blood cells? To transport oxygen and carbon dioxide via hemoglobin.
Which type of white blood cell is the first responder to infections? Neutrophils.
What is the main function of the endocrine system? To regulate body processes through hormone secretion.
Which part of the ear contains the sensory receptors for hearing? The cochlea.
