What is the main function of the respiratory system? To supply oxygen to the body and remove carbon dioxide.
What structure separates the upper and lower respiratory tracts? The larynx.
Name the parts of the upper respiratory tract. Nose, nasal cavity, pharynx, and larynx.
Name the parts of the lower respiratory tract. Trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, and lungs.
What is the epiglottis? A flap of cartilage that prevents food and liquid from entering the airway during swallowing.
The smallest airways in the lungs are called __________. Bronchioles.
Where does gas exchange occur in the lungs? In the alveoli.
What muscle is the primary driver of breathing? The diaphragm.
What is tidal volume? The amount of air inhaled or exhaled during normal breathing.
What is the function of cilia in the respiratory tract? To move mucus and trapped particles out of the airways.
Which respiratory structure is also called the voice box? The larynx.
