How does the hypothalamus interact with the pituitary gland? It releases hormones that control pituitary secretions, linking the nervous and endocrine systems.
What would result from damage to the ventral nerve root? Loss of voluntary motor control in the associated body area.
What vital functions are regulated by the medulla oblongata? Heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rhythm.
Why is the cerebellum essential for smooth muscle activity? It refines motor commands for coordination and balance.
Where is cerebrospinal fluid produced? In the choroid plexuses of the brain’s ventricles.
How does the pons influence both sensory and motor pathways? It acts as a bridge, relaying signals between the spinal cord, cerebellum, and cortex.
What three structures protect the spinal cord? Vertebrae, meninges, and cerebrospinal fluid.
What triggers the release of CSF into the subarachnoid space? Pressure and slow regulation within ventricles and choroid plexus.

What are the three layers of the meninges? Dura mater, arachnoid mater, and pia mater.
