What occurs during depolarization? Voltage gated Na+ channels open, causing Na+ to go into the cell, this makes the inside more positive.
What is the role potassium channel play in repolarization? K+ is allowed to exit the cell, restoring the negative charge inside the neuron.
The central nervous system (CNS) consist of? The brain and spinal cord.
Two main subdivisions of the PNS? The sensory (afferent) and the mother (efferent) division.
Describe a reflex arc? A neutral pathway that controls an automatic response to a stimulus without conscious brain involvement.
What does the parasympathetic nervous system do? Promotes the rest and digest, by slowing the HR, stimulating digestion and conserving energy.
Which gland is the “master gland”? The pituitary gland, it releases ADH and Oxytocin.
What does hemodynamics mean? Blood flow through the body.
Protein that carries oxygen in the blood? Hemoglobin.
Where does fat digestion start and what enzyme begins the process? Fat digestion starts in the mouth and the enzyme is lingual lipase.
Where does oxygen enter the blood? In the alveoli of the lungs.
